This sounded like a great idea in concept. I checked the manufacturers site before purchasing and saw that the Nikon D80 was listed among the supported cameras. I spent 3 days, off and on, trying to get my iMac or my iPad to recognize the card once I set it up with the vague instructions included in the packaging. I tried the manufacturers support site and other forums around the net. Nothing helped. I finally fired off an email to Eye-Fi for help. They were surprisingly quick to get back to me the one point in their favor , and they gave me a list of steps to perform to generate and send a log file. The next reply, again received rather quickly, was that the card cant be used in Direct Mode on the Nikon D80, only in Wi-Fi mode. Apparently theres some metal inside the D80 that causes interference, and there is no work around according to Eye-Fi. Since I cant guarantee therell always be Wi-Fi available while Im shooting even if there was, do I really feel like setting it up every time Im on a different network? It essentially functions as an overpriced SDHC card. Thank goodness Amazon has such a great return policy! Report abuse. As a current eye-fi owner of X2 cards, I wouldnt put any trust in this company. Complete BS! Will never buy their cards again!!! This is one of those products that sounds too good It is really easy to set-up, and the included software is very comprehensive. Out of the box it is very easy to use, but nicely customizable for geeks like me. This card has a lot of cool uses if you really think about it. You can keep the family updated with pics while you are on vacation. No effort required. This is a well engineered, well implemented product that is much more than a gimmick. It delivers exactly what it promises. This works as advertised! I like it. You can control the folder where the pictures go to and even have put into a subfolder by create date or upload date. Can even have pictures uploaded to various sharing sites like Flickr, Facebook, Picassa, etc. I love this. I love to be able to see my pictures on my ipad right then and there and make any adjustments needed. I can also send pictures to others a lot quicker!! See all reviews. Back to top. Get to Know Us. Pop it in your camera and you can transfer your pictures to your computer via a wireless connection at home or a local hotspot. The 8GB X2 is the latest model in the Eye-Fi range, and adds a few new features, such as the ability to transfer images via ad-hoc networks, and the option to upload raw images. Choose your assignment To use the X2s wireless functionality, youll need to assign the card to a wireless network. We found this process quite simple. The X2 comes with a USB card reader and, to get started, youll need to attach this to your computer with the X2 inserted. The card comes pre-loaded with the software you need, and, once its installed, youll be taken through the set-up process. This involves finding your local Wi-Fi network, and assigning the X2 to that connection. Once a connection is assigned, you can use the X2 in your camera just as you would a normal memory card. Take a picture, and the Eye-Fi Helper software on your computer will pick up any photos youve taken and begin uploading them. Because the photos you take are stored in the X2s 8GB of memory, the card is able to work through any backlog of photos that develops, so you dont have to worry about waiting for an image to upload before snapping a new one. We found that uploading a megapixel image took around 15 seconds over a 24Mbps connection, so dont expect your photos to pop up on your computer instantaneously.
